Tacoma Foods is a vertically integrated business which sources, imports, cuts and packs, warehouses, distributes, and merchandises product on a national basis.
Tacoma is perfectly placed to offer suppliers, both local and overseas, total penetration of the South African market and other Southern African countries, including Indian Ocean Islands. It imports in the following categories: Deli Products, Coffee, Tea, Cheese, Cream, Dairy Alternatives, Crisp Breads, Soya Drinks, Bakery, Confectionery, Snacks and Gluten Free Crackers.
A recent focus, and strong growth-point at Tacoma, is the development of exports of local and imported product to our distributors in neighbouring countries.
Tacoma imports and distributes branded as well as private label products across formal and informal retail. The head office is situated in Cape Town, South Africa, with Distribution Centres in Johannesburg, Durban, Bloemfontein and Port Elizabeth. There are sales offices in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.
The company was established in 1993, by Neil Balfour, originally as an import/export agency specialising in food products. Tacoma continues to excel in this field, sourcing a wide range of high quality food products from an impressive network of exceptional producers located around the world, for the leading supermarket chains and independents in Africa and Indian Ocean islands. Tacoma sources international and local products but also manages the national distribution, sales and merchandising of ambient and cold-chain products for a number of local producers who do not have this capability in-house.
People at Tacoma come from an eclectic diversity of backgrounds, cultures and experience, synergistically working together in a fertile environment of co-operation and creativity – a powerful combination.
